Let us know when you consider to be a good time for the conference, and we'll start scheduling based on the popular vote! No electoral college for the moonbats!
Consensus Rules, so have at it!

As late in the year as possible for me.

Hecate, Tena and I were just e-mailing, and what works for both of us is early - mid Fall. Between now and mid-Summer is my trade show time at work, and things get helter skelter for me sometimes. However, consensus rules.

Labor Day weekend seemed a good choice.
Stick with what works, right?

Late summer early fall works for me.

Just to add to the fun...

Allo, allo? Is this thing on?

It looks like it will end up at Labor Day again. I'd prefer mid-summer for myself - it was hard making it work with the start of the school year. But I'll adjust. It'll be worth it.

Labor Day sounds good. October through December are usually too busy for me to get away from work. I love Chicago in late August/early September when it starts cooling down at night. Although with global climate change this may be too much to hope for.

I agree on avoiding Jazz Fest (Labor Day weekend) if possible...But if the group thinks otherwise, so be it.
Early fall is very nice.
Would there be interest in a REAL blues club crawl one night(South and West sides)? I know the right people and places. Just float a note...

I'm with Nim -- Labor Day weekend worked well last year (sorry, mena) but I could manage later -- nothing in June of July this year, though (Nim, could I bum a ride? -- otherwise I'll take Amtrak -- if Bush hasn't killed by then)
By Anonymous, at Tuesday, January 31, 2006 4:28:00 PM
Prior,
You can definitely bum a ride from one of us.

If Bush hasn't killed "IT" by then (HOO BOY! the Secret Service & FBI will be after me -- fortunately they are too busy chasing false leads from Illegal wiretapping)
Vicki, I'll show you guys a shortcut to Chicago that avoids toll roads (I HATE toll roads)

Furthest from me wedding day (October 7th).
Then again, I'm selfish...

Of course you can have a ride, Prior, if you don't have other Atriots tripping over themselves to transport you.

I still wanna hang out with Hecate. It can be later in the year -- she can work something out with the weather controlloers, right?
By Thers, at Tuesday, January 31, 2006 7:18:00 PM
I like Labor Day weekend as well - but definitely sometime warm *if* there's interest in softball again. If there's no interest in softball (or no practical venue), then I'd prefer later in the year 'cuz I want to hang with Hecate too...

Any time after mid August.
I am thinking of attending the conference thing at the Aspen Institute in early July, so I need some time to recover my funds from that.
School for the kids starts third week in August, so Labor Day, or after seems to be the weekend of choice.

From what I've heard, I don't think Chicago in the summer is anyone's idea of paradise.
And can we avoid Labor Day? Any holiday weekend is a lousy time to be traveling...
By dave, at Wednesday, February 01, 2006 12:11:00 AM
I say sometime between mid-August and mid-October. Labor Day weekend would be okay for me.

When is Labour Day in the US?
By Anonymous, at Wednesday, February 01, 2006 12:27:00 AM
Labour Day in the US is the First Monday in September.
By Anonymous, at Wednesday, February 01, 2006 10:29:00 AM
I'd suggest some time in mid-September -- after the Labor Day noise (and expense), but still pleasant and comfortable.

Do you think the King Tut exhibit (ongoing through the summer and fall) will have much of an impact on numbers of tourists and hotel rooms available? I would like to do both in one visit to Chicago. I saw Tut in NOLA in '76--the most awesome thing I'd ever seen.

I vote Spring or early Summer.
w00t.
By Anonymous, at Wednesday, February 01, 2006 12:56:00 PM
would there be anything wrong with memorial day? early summer?
seems to me the late summer's full of fetivals, etc, which might militate against our being able to reserve accomodations at more reasonable prices...
